Podcast VIII: Turn Back, O Man
Jonathan's NY Theatre Diary Podcast 8 (10.1 mb)
Another recording from Central Park. I talk about doing pullbacks, seeing Two Gentlemen of Verona at the Delacorte Theatre, theatre season subscriptions, Michael Ball in The Woman in White, LaChanze in The Color Purple.
At two points in the podcast, a breeze starts blowing and wreaks all sorts of havok on the sound quality. Heh. Sorry about that.
Cheers!

Congrats on getting the pullback! I was wondering, what is your job? Does it have anything to do with theatre, or is theatre a hobby?

Thanks! It's like finally learning how to walk! Haha.
My "day job" is in the technology field. I'm an application developer, and sometimes web designer.
It depends on what you mean by "hobby". I certainly spend enough time doing theatre as anything else, the only difference is, that I don't make a living out of it, though the hope is that someday I will.

Hi Jonathan,
Enjoying the podcasts. I like hearing about your dance classes, as well as what is going on in the theater there.
Would love to hear about what musicals /composers you really like, not just currently, but in general. (although I guess we get some glimpses of that from your podcast titles. ;) )
Mary
Hi Mary! Thanks for listening!
I'm a bit of a theatre pollyanna because I tend to like everything. :) But thanks for the feedback! I'll talk more about that in upcoming shows.

I'm a tap dancer, and I can't do the pullback very well, so congratulations! I know how difficult it is. :) I was wondering about the theatre subscriptions you were talking about? About how much do they cost, and where can I go to find more info on them?
Hi Ellen,
Thanks for listening!
I can't really say I do pullbacks really well just yet, but I'm happy that I can do them at all. :)
Subscriptions vary from theatre company to theatre company. Prices also depend on the theatre company and what deal they offer, but typically, it is about $150-$300 for a season for the tier 1 companies... and is at a significant discount than if you bought the tix individually.
The best thing to do is to go to the website of the company you're interested in and they'll have all the details there.
The fabulous Broadwaystars.com has links to all the major NY theatre company websites on their sidebar.
